Discovering Mushrooms

Join renowned naturalist Bob Bowles and learn how mushrooms grow, where they grow, how to identify them, their relationship with trees and the soil, and what species are edible. Cost: $10. Pre-registration required, spaces are limited to ensure a high quality experience for all participants. Deer Archery Hunting Seasons

All users of the Dufferin County Forest are hereby advised that Oct. 1 to 31, Nov. 6 to 28 and Dec. 4 to 31 are the archery seasons for deer in 2010. During this time there will be a number of hunters using the Dufferin County Forest properties. Please use caution in the forest and wear bright-coloured clothing. Suspected violations of the Fish & Wildlife Conservation Act should be reported to the Ministry of Natural Resources at 877-847-7667 (877-TIPS-MNR). Other inquiries should be directed to the County Forest Manager at 705‑435‑1881.
Fall Wild Turkey Hunting Season

All users of the Dufferin County Forest are hereby advised that October 12-24 is the fall shotgun/archery season for wild turkey in 2010. Wild turkey hunting may occur only from half an hour before sunrise to 7:00 p.m. During this time there will be a number of hunters using the Dufferin County Forest properties. Please use caution in the forest and wear bright-coloured clothing. Suspected violations of the Fish & Wildlife Conservation Act should be reported to the Ministry of Natural Resources at 877-847-7667 (877-TIPS-MNR). Green Acres Rural Landowner Workshop
October 16/10
A one-day workshop at the Rosemont Hall for landowners to learn about various aspects of rural property management. Topics that will be covered include: managing your septic tank and bed, pond management, small scale agriculture, woodland management, forest health, invasive species both on land and in the water, and protection and conservation of rivers and streams.
