Waste management responsibilities within the County of Dufferin are divided between the County and the eight local municipalities; Amaranth, East Garafraxa, East Luther Grand Valley, Melancthon, Mono, Mulmur, Orangeville and Shelburne. Local municipalities are responsible for garbage, recycling , yard waste, and large item pick-up. The County manages the DUFFERIN COMPOSTS! Organics Program, Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Goods Recycling Event Days, the Take It Back! Product Stewardship Program, as well as other initiatives that further reduce the amount of waste being landfilled.
